This magical oolong tea uses tea leaves harvested from the Huang Guan Yin (Golden Goddess of Mercy) tea bush varietal famously grown in Wuyi Shan, Taiwan and noted for its distinctive infusion and complex floral notes. The specially prepared oolong leaves are carefully blended with osmanthus flowers.
Osmanthus are grown as popular shrubs in parks and gardens throughout the warm temperate climates. In China, these flowers have been used for centuries to create various versions of an osmanthus tea (guì huā chá, also called cinnamon flower or cassia flower). The teas are produced by combining dried Sweet Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) flowers with black or green tea leaves similar to the more familiar jasmine tea which combines jasmine flowers with tea leaves.
Our Organic Osmanthus Oolong tea continues the wonderful tradition of Chinese floral teas with this well balanced blend of fine oolong tea and the subtle fragrance of osmanthus blossoms.
Heat water to a low boil (filtered if possible) and allow to cool to 190˚F and add one teaspoon loose leaf tea per cup (apprx. 8 ounces). Infuse the tea leaves for 3–4 minutes depending on taste preference. May be infused a second and third time, even up to 5 times! Oolong teas are usually imbibed plain without milk or sugar.
INGREDIENTS: Organic oolong tea. Origin: Fujian, China.
Oolong teas are traditionally prepared in smaller earthenware or porcelain tea pots and shared in smaller cups using the pot to brew subsequent infusions. Create your own ceremony or prepare the tea by the cup. Don't be afraid to experiment - oolong teas have an incredible range of subtle flavor profiles depending on how they are prepared, how long they are brewed, how pure the water used, etc. and yet they are hardy enough to shine through such a wide range of brewing methods. Everyone finds their own favorite way to prepare and enjoy an exceptional oolong tea.
