Natural Mulberry Leaf Botanical Tea

Mulberry leaf tea is a healthy powerhouse which contains 17 kinds of amino acids, Vitamin C, B1, B2, as well as folic acid and a variety of minerals - all without any caffeine. This kind of botanical tea is very popular in Asian countries, particularly Japan and Korea but is underappreciated in our country. The dry leaves have a woodsy sencha or oolong aroma before brewing, while infusing a light wheatgrass scent rises from the cup. The taste is smooth, vegetal with no bitterness and a neutral sweetness, similar to a green oolong tea.

How to Prepare Mulberry Leaf Tea

Heat water (filtered, if possible) to a low boil and let cool slightly, add one generous teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup (apprx. 8 ounces). Infuse the tea for 4–5 minutes depending on taste preference.

INGREDIENTS: Natural mulberry leaf. (Our Mulberry Leaf tea is grown on a farm cultivated naturally and processed under organic management but which has not yet been certified organic). Origin: Thailand.

WHAT DOES MULBERRY LEAF BRING TO A TEA? Mulberry tea has been studied for its properties to reduce cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, bone loss, and muscular cramps. It has the potential to boost the metabolism and help prevent influenza. Mulberry tea helps to balance blood levels and benefits the stomach, kidneys and bladder functions.*

For those of us at Zen Tara, Mulberry is one of three lesser known but greatly loved botanical teas (nettle leaf, mulberry leaf and licorice root). These are botanical teas that we like to drink for their own unique tastes which we would drink even if they didn't provide other healthy perks as part of their infusion.
