A green tea in a decaffeinated form, our organic Decaf Green Tea preserves much of the natural vegetal green tea flavor profile and healthy antioxidants found in green tea while minimizing the caffeine.
Our green tea is decaffeinated using the water process method in order to retain it's organic status. Freshly harvested tea leaves are soaked in hot water. This process removes 98% of the caffeine but leaves most of the nutrients intact. A 2007 study published in the Food Chemistry Journal found that as much as 95% of the healthy green tea catechins are preserved by this decaffeination process.
Decaffeinated pure teas are a tricky proposal - get almost all the caffeine out but leave almost all the flavor in (and maintain an organic status). Many tea companies don't even try - all of their decaffeinated teas are flavored teas to mask the loss of the true tea flavor. This pure leaf organic decaffeinated green tea gives you a pure tea option - drink it "as is" or add your own special flavoring for a stronger tasting cup of decaffeinated tea.
Heat water (filtered, if possible) to a low boil and let cool to 180 degrees, add one rounded teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup (apprx. 8 ounces). Infuse the tea for 2–3 minutes depending on taste preference.
